Is This Picture Real?
After looking at the Pictures that Lie on the CNet News website, the one picture that stood out to me was the University of Wisconsin picture. I chose this picture due to the controversy that could arise from this one image. The original picture was from a 1993 shot of a football game at the university. Later in 2000 the University wanted to show a picture of just how diversified the campus was. Instead of taking a whole new shot they decided to photoshop a picture of a black student. The student's picture had been taken in 1994. By photoshopping the image, the image looks as if the students were all at the same football game without any question. The whole idea behind the manipulation of the photo was to project an image of diversity and how it is seen throughout the university including popular school football games. The photo was not necessarily harmful , but rather deceiving. For future students making decisions on where to attend college, they expect correct information concerning the school. The school probably would have been better off taking a whole not picture instead of photoshopping a student into the image. Photoshopping is a great tool , however there are many instances where pictures that are created can become questionable.

You're right, that's an interesting case. I think that the intention was good, but you were right in saying that students applying would want truthful information. Now, the school may have a reputation of being dishonest.
I don't think it was harmful either. It was just misleading.
This just shows how desperate our universities to be politically correct and multicultural.
Yes this picture did not seem harmful.
I agree that the picture was misleading, but I can also see harm in it as well. A student may see the picture and think, "I really want to go to this school because of the diversity." They may be bitterly dissappointed to find out otherwise if the school isn't what he/she thought it was. If the school really is that diverse, why wouldn't they take another picture then?
